The George Institute for Global Health would like to invite you to take part in a study testing whether a smartphone application can help people with high blood pressure to identify lower salt food products in the supermarket.

Food labels can provide information about the healthiness of food products. The aim of this study is to find out whether a smartphone application can help people with high blood pressure to identify lower salt food products in the supermarket. The trial will be done from start to finish through a smartphone application developed specifically for the study.

If you are over 18 years old, have a diagnosis of high blood pressure and shop at a supermarket at least once a month, you may be eligible to take part. Once you start the study, you will use your smartphone to scan the barcodes of packaged food products you purchase and you will be presented with information on the level of salt in those food items, and you will be provided with information about products which are lower in salt. We will also ask you to send us information about what you buy throughout the study.
